Children lost from care in human trafficking cases, says council

Twenty-five young foreigners between 12 and 17 have disappeared care agencies, said Kent County Council

More than two dozen children suspected of being trafficked into the UK this year through the Channel ports of Kent are missing from care.

Kent County Council said it had no way of knowing what happened to nearly a quarter of unaccompanied minors have been supported in children's homes or foster parents.

The disappearance of 25 children, aged between 12 and 17, provoked new calls for reform of care for children trafficked for exploitation, including prostitution, fraud services, and the cultivation of cannabis.

The largest group of victims in the most recent snapshot came from Vietnam (48), followed by Nigeria (29) and Romania (23). The exploitation of labor was the main reason for traffic in the UK, with 54 children working on farms, restaurants and bars, nails, and on construction sites, the report said.

More than a quarter of all victims were trafficked for sexual exploitation, all women, while 23 were exploited as domestic servants, who CEOP identified as the most hidden of Violence the children who are at home, far from schools and doctors where they could be discovered.

Commenting on the loss of trafficking victims, suspects Kent County Council, said there was no way to avoid leaving care tips.
