Edinburgh comedy notebook: standup for kids is not actually child's play

What

with boos, no inconsistencies and eschatological joy, a room full of excited children are more like a group of drunken adults

In recent years, the children's section of the band program was driven by a steady increase in the number of comedy shows for children. Sampling of some of these this week with my nine-year-old son, I still wonder why no one had thought before standup children. There is very little difference, as far as I can see, between facing an audience of excited children and a host of drinking the night screaming quite incomprehensible without inconsistencies, both get agitated and aggressive when they are potentially the center of attention, and both are easily satisfied by the material most obvious. As a comic gags to a crowd Saturday night Jongleurs Bachelor depend largely on order, all the interpreters who work with children comes with a full arsenal of jokes, shit, that almost a Pavlovian reducing small giggles.

This week we enjoyed Mark Thomas be the version for children has proved successful people, where children in the audience suggests policies that make their world a better place and then voted for the winner. "No school, no rules" were the most popular choices, but my favorite is particularly "all buildings should be based on bananas." A child had written: "I should rule the world and all the money. " "It's always good to keep the Tories," joked Thomas, and some of the children laughed, showing that you are never too young for a little satire.
