comedian talks about his family
I grew up with three generations
under one roof. My mother's parents lived in a smaller house, my father - who was a general practitioner - had the opportunity to start their own practice. This old house, walking became available and my grandfather, who was a mason and builder, build a. The plan was that this practice would be at one end and my grandparents live temporarily in the other end. But the reality was that my grandfather loved to hold court for what would be on the table every afternoon after school and the arrangement was made permanent.
My grandparents used to query me
when I got home from school. My father did not have the time I was working when I entered it would prepare such a report in the day. Now, I noticed with my own son, is something that I found to do. But when asked which usually responds, "I know", while when my father asked who will give a full report.
My grandfather had
strong opinions.
was an unconditional and very controversial socialist. He liked to rant and rail about Thatcher, which was fun. He told me a kind of curiosity and growing fascination and love of discussion and debate, I think you can see in my shows today.
My father was probably less committed politics, but was very well read, very nice and sweet, and still is. He has a great interest in many subjects, including classical music, literature and the natural world, which I inherited. My mother was a traditional matriarchal figure. She sang around the house and there was always music.
I was an only child but never wanted a brother. He just never occurred to me. For me, it was well and I just sort of agree with him. I was very close to my older cousin, I used to do puppet shows for Christmas, so I kind of hang out like brothers.
sitting in a stroller for me to make wings and gradually over the years to come he ended up coming on stage. O2 came out in front of 14,000 people and left a hello and sing a song without any fear. The audience loved it, and shouted: "Get the kid again"
