comparisons many were made between 1981 and 1985 riots and the recent troubles and developed a consensus that, despite the death of Mark Duggan, the relationship between the police and the black community has improved greatly. This is simply not true for young people, regardless of their race. The young people were excluded from top-down approaches to multi-agency law enforcement that have evolved since the 1980s. Stop and register the application and guilt by association laws of the joint venture (currently the subject of a judicial commission of inquiry from) are among the concerns of young people and more urgent. Students also - outraged by the imprisonment and revenge after excessive Gaza and to protest against the costs - they feel they have been subjected to summary justice. Young people who fall into a band of subculture often perceive the police as little more than another band - although the larger and more powerful. Justice must be restored and revenge. But the language of politicians and police, and the actions of certain judges (for stealing a case of water £ 3.50 ... six months in prison, August 12) does not bode well.

. From the "senseless crime" seems to have moved to a nonsense of retaliation. The government wants those involved in the first to pay all of what they did. Everyone is likely to pay a high price for the latter. No doubt, the advice given by Tariq Jahan, to "calm down" (reduce pressure as scrap Birmingham police mourn their dead, Aug. 11) should be made by all of us.

. I see that jail time to keep a slave (HIV experts, he served as a slave woman is incarcerated, August 12) and theft of mineral water Lidl are the same, terms of six months. This makes the value of human freedom around £ 3.50.

. At some point during their crackdown against protesters, potential rioters and their families, can someone remind the Prime Minister who believes that "everyone deserves a second chance "? Thank you.

. The legal system is the exchange rate mechanism. Of the more than 1,800 people detained in connection with the riots, more than 500 have already appeared in court (justice concerns in general terms as race tracks to handle riots arrests, 12 August). The judges sat all night and found that people in the short term to write social inquiry reports. David Cameron said: "We constantly review whether the courts have the power to sentence you need, and we will act if necessary" and Juliet Lyon, director of the Prison Reform Trust, said that the judiciary will be on, but could be addressed. You can almost hear the echoes of Churchill - Never in the history of human conflict ...
And the IPCC report on the shooting of Mr. Duggan? The IPCC predicts that the ratio of four to six months.
. As always, Erwin James writes with conviction and experience in the criminal justice system (Bang 'Em Up? Perhaps, but at what cost to everyone?, August 11). However, the stimulus to community investments are managed by the probation service, whose agents spend 75% of their time on paperwork, which is in line with big budget cuts. These plans are much more effective in reducing recidivism in the prison, but the government's willingness to invest in them or go "bang 'em up" populism? I think we know the answer to this question.
