Playing in the Super Bowl was worth everything it took to get there | Nick Sorensen

NFL veteran Nick Sorensen said he would not change anything about his football career and extraordinary, even concussions

Imagine reaching the peak of his career at the age of 23 years. This is what I experienced when I played in the Super Bowl XXXVI St. Louis Rams.

call this amazing experience would be an understatement. I was a rookie single Virginia Tech University and played in the game BCS National Championship college two years earlier, another feat in itself. The only drawback is that lost two games.

I joined the Rams in the sixth week of the regular season and was placed on the practice squad for three weeks. (Being on the practice squad means they are allowed to practice with the team, but not the right to play games).

After three weeks has ended, head coach, Mike Martz, took me aside after practice Friday and said: "Call your mother and go to the meeting with Bobby April (special coached). You play again this weekend. "

played the rest of the season and the playoffs in the special teams unit Rams. We continued to win, and we were there, landing in New Orleans to play in the Super Bowl.

We enjoyed a lot, and most of the media gave the New England Patriots, with no possibility of winning. In this game of 2002, we witnessed the emergence of Tom Brady, and later learned the controversy of "Spy Gate" (I will not get into that).

Whatever the outcome of the game, the Super Bowl was the most electrifying experience of my life. With the anticipation of the game, the coaches do their best to practice the week feeling like every two weeks during the season. This is an extremely difficult task because of all the hype and distractions of the Super Bowl.

When I think of my 10 years in the NFL, I realize that it was the most exciting moment of my life. As a kid, I always wanted to play football like my father, who played at the University of Miami and "drank a cup of coffee" with the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns (his words). I focused all my energy and worked hard all my life to get there. I wonder if my two children have the same goals.

In light of all this commotion presentation, I am often asked if I would like my children to play football. Here is my opinion about concussions, and I had 15 concussions in my football career with my last I went in not responding for five minutes while my pregnant wife saw in the stands.
