Bafta announces 2012 Young Game Designer competition

British Academy of creating the game starts today, offering 11-16 year olds the opportunity to watch them play a prototype for a game studio professional

Bafta game has officially launched the 2012 Young Artists Competition. This annual event is open to children aged between 11 and 16, winners and participants the opportunity to see their design prototypes for game developers profesisonal.

a launch event was held at the Science Museum on Tuesday morning with Hollyoaks actress Anna Shaffer and Newsround presenter Oduba ore on board as ambassadors of the competition. They were joined by students from some local schools to participate in workshops in game design. Bafta will be running practice similar events throughout the year with a workshop of National Media Museum set to be broadcast live at 13:00 on May 17

The top three entries in both categories will be invited to British children in the Academy Awards in November. Furthermore the concept developed by a team from the University of Abertay Dundee, the winners will get a visit from a game studio in the foreground.

competition last year saw hundreds of entries from children across the country. It was won by a pastor of 15 years and Noah Weisberg Scantlebury Luis Nathaniel whose intelligent puzzle platform, Rollin 'Scot, was renamed Stick' Em Up, and is now available for free from the iTunes App Store and Android Market.
