Social attitudes survey: benefits are too high

British

Social Survey Attitudes: What do you think about the benefits of Britain, the income gap, private education and reducing child poverty

Survey 2009

British people that we spend too much on the benefits - but most still believe that the income gap between rich and poor is very high, this year's survey shows British social attitudes.

Each year, nonprofit Natco asked 4,000 people what they think about issues such as benefits, unemployment and the economy.

results this year show that they are less tolerant of these benefits, we believe that the income gap is still too high and that many of us think this is the right of parents rich to put their children through private education.

More than half of Britons believe that the benefits are too high and because they are too high, the unemployed are less likely to seek work.

When work took office in 1997, one third of people believe that the benefits were very low, but since the coalition government came to power last year, that figure dropped to only 23%.

during the last decade, fewer people believe it is bad for rich parents to send their children to school more. In 1999, 37% of respondents thought it was a lot of wealth and parents for their children to attend private schools.

However, this figure dropped to 28% last year, proving that even the parents because of the deteriorating economic conditions are always ready to put the education of their children first.

Most people still believe that the income gap between rich and poor is very high, while 20% of people feel the pay gap is about right.

2.6 million children in the UK now living in poverty and the results show that Natco 79% of people believe that the government is fully responsible for the reduction of child poverty.
